Ann Arbor, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Spike Albrecht totaled 11 points and a career-high nine assists with no turnovers off the bench as No. 17 Michigan held off Syracuse, 68-65, in this installment of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Albrecht, who became a household name when he scored 17 first-half points against Louisville in the National Championship game two years ago, broke a 63-63 deadlock when he stepped into an NBA range 3-pointer with 31 seconds to play. Michael Gbinije got a quick two at the other end, and Syracuse (5-2) had two chances to take a lead after Michigan missed two free throws but squandered both. Chris McCullough, who secured Derrick Waltons miss from the line, overthrew Kaleb Joseph on his outlet pass. LeVert then missed the front end of a 1-and-1, but Joseph lost the ball on a drive to the basket. LeVert sank two with 4.5 to play, and Josephs final look from 3 hit nothing but air as the clock expired. Zak Irvin led Michigan (6-1) with 18 points while LeVert and Ricky Doyle scored 12 apiece. The Wolverines improved to 5-0 at home this season. Trevor Cooney and Rakeem Christmas had 16 and 15 points, respectively, in the setback. McCullough finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Michigan started 0-for-7 from the floor before Kameron Chatman finally hit a jumper from the free throw line. That bucket sparked a 9-0 Wolverines run, with Irvin canning a 3 and throwing down a dunk in transition during the spurt. Gbinije then capped an 8-0 Orange run with a three-point play. It was 12-9 at that point, and neither team led by more than three during the rest of a back- and-forth first half. Christmas followed another Irvin dunk with a three-point play at the other end, and Syracuse led 31-29 at halftime. It was a tale of two halves for Michigans outside shooting. The Maize and Blue struggled to find the range in the opening 20 minutes, shooting just 3- for-17 from the arc before erupting for 8-of-16 in the second half. Albrecht came alive early in the second half. He had a hand in 12 straight points for the Wolverines. The junior hit a 3, assisted on triples by Walton and Irvin, and went behind the back to set up Doyles three-point play. Cooney hit a pair of treys during that run to keep Syracuse close. Albrecht then potted another long 3-pointer and assisted on two more baskets, including Irvins fourth 3 of the game, and the Wolverines went up 58-48 with seven minutes to play. Syracuse used an 11-3 run from there to close the gap to two. Cooney hit twice from behind the arc and McCullough scored four points during the spurt that forced Michigan to use a timeout. With 56 seconds remaining, Christmas tied the game with an uncontested layup. Game Notes Walton returned after missing one game with a toe injury ... Syracuse had 19 turnovers compared to just seven from Michigan ... Chatman had 10 points and a career-best nine rebounds. Dante Exum Jersey . Its like being on Broadway, everything you do matters. Although head coach Randy Carlyle jokingly wondered how much actual training Bolland got done while in London. "I dont know how much training goes on when you go back to the junior team that you played for so I wouldnt read too much into that," laughed Carlyle after the Maple Leafs were put through an up-tempo practice that concluded with a 10-minute bag skate on Thursday.Winners of the FIFA Club World Cup between continental champions (total goals series from 1960-72 and 1974-79):1960_Real Madrid (Spain) beat Penarol (Uruguay) 5-1 on aggregate1961_Penarol (Uruguay) beat Benfica (Portugal) 7-2 on aggregate1962_Santos (Brazil) beat Benfica (Portugal) 8-4 on aggregate1963_Santos (Brazil) beat AC Milan (Italy) 1-0 after 6-6 aggregate1964_Inter Milan (Italy) beat Independiente (Argentina) 3-1 on aggregate1965_Inter Milan (Italy) beat Independiente (Argentina) 3-0 on aggregate1966_Penarol (Uruguay) beat Real Madrid (Spain) 4-0 on aggregate1967_Racing Club (Argentina) beat Glasgow Celtic (Scotland) 1-0 after 2-2 aggregate1968_Estudiantes (Argentina) beat Manchester United (England) 2-1 on aggregate1969_AC Milan (Italy) beat Estudiantes (Argentina) 4-2 on aggregate1970_Feyenoord (Netherlands) beat Estudiantes (Argentina) 3-2 on aggregate1971_Nacional (Uruguay) beat Panathinaikos (Greece) 3-2 on aggregate1972_Ajax (Netherlands) beat Independiente (Argentina) 4-1 on aggregate1973_Independiente (Argentina) 1, Juventus (Italy) 01974_Atletico Madrid (Spain) beat Independiente (Argentina) 2-1 on aggregate1975_Not played1976_Bayern Munich (West Germany) beat Cruzeiro (Brazil) 2-0 on aggregate1977_Boca Juniors (Argentina) beat Borussia Moenchengladbach (West Germany) 5-2 on aggregate1978_Not played1979_Olimpia (Paraguay) beat Malmo FF (Sweden) 3-1 on aggregate1980_Nacional (Uruguay) 1, Nottingham Forest (England) 01981_Flamengo (Brazil) 3, Liverpool (England) 01982_Penarol (Uruguay) 2, Aston Villa (England) 01983_Gremio Porto Alegre (Brazil) 2, Hamburg SV (West Germany) 1, ET1984_Independiente (Argentina) 1, Liverpool (England) 01985_Juventus (Italy) 2, Argentinos Juniors (Argentina) 2, Juventus won 4-2 on penalties1986_River Plate (Argentina) 1, Steau Bucharest (Romania) 01987_FC Porto (Portugal) 2, Penarol (Uruguay) 1, ET1988_Nacional (Uruguay) 2, PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands) 2, Nacional won 7-6 on penalties1989_AC Milan (Italy) 1, Atletico Nacional (Colombia) 0, ET1990_AC Milan (Italy) 3, Olimpia (Paraguay) 01991_Red Star Belgrade (Yugoslavia) 3, Coco Colo (Chile) 01992_Sao Paulo (Brazil) 2, Barcelona (Spain) 11993_Sao Paulo (Brazil) 3, AC Milan (Italy) 21994_Velez Sarsfield (Argentina) 2, AC Milan (Italy) 01995_Ajax (Netherlands) 0, Gremio (Brazil) 0, Ajax won 4-3 on penalties1996_Juventus (Italy) 1, River Plate (Argentina) 01997_Borussia Dortmund (Germany) 2, Cruzeiro (Brazil) 01998_Real Madrid (Spain) 2, Vasco da Gama (Brazil) 11999_Manchester United (England) 1, Palmeiras (Brazil) 02000_Boca Juniors (Argentina) 2, Real Madrid (Spain) 12001_Bayern Munich (Germany) 1, Boca Juniors (Argentina) 02002_Real Madrid (Spain) 2, Olimpia (Paraguay) 02003_Boca Juniors (Argentina) 1, AC Milan (Italy) 1, Boca Juniors won 3-1 on penalties2004_FC Porto (Portugal) 0, Once Caldas (Colombia) 0, Porto won 8-7 on penalties2005_Sao Paulo (Brazil) 1, Liverpool (England) 02006_Internacional (Brazil) 1, Barcelona (Spain) 02007_AC Milan (Italy) 4, Boca Juniors (Argentina) 22008_Manchester United (England), 1, Liga de Quito (Ecuador) 02009_Barcelona (Spain) 2, Estudiantes (Argentina) 1, ET2010_Inter Milan (Italy) 3, TP Mazembe (Congo) 02011_Barcelona (Spain) 4, Santos (Brazil) 02012_Corinthians (Brazil) 1, Chelsea (England) 02013_Bayern Munich (Germany) 2, Raja Casablanca (Morocco) 02014_Real Madrid (Spain) 2, San Lorenzo (Argentina) 0NOTE: Also known as Intercontinental Cup from 1960-79, Toyota Cup 1980-2004, formerly contested by South American and European champions.dddddddddddd ' ' '
